The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has participated in the 1st Global Commercial and Industrial Visionaries Summit organized by Huawei Digital Power, highlighting Bangladesh’s growing focus on clean energy adoption and industrial decarbonization in the apparel sector.
The summit, held in China in late January, brought together more than 500 commercial and industrial stakeholders from around 45 countries to discuss renewable energy solutions, energy storage systems and digital power technologies aimed at accelerating the global transition to low-carbon manufacturing. The event focused on scalable solar and energy storage models tailored for energy-intensive industries.
BGMEA representatives joined discussions on photovoltaic systems, integrated energy storage solutions and smart power management platforms designed to improve energy efficiency while reducing carbon emissions. Delegates also visited Huawei’s manufacturing and research facilities, gaining first-hand exposure to solar inverter production, advanced energy storage technologies and digital monitoring systems for industrial use.
Huawei used the summit to showcase its latest commercial and industrial solar and energy storage solutions, including upgraded PV and battery systems aimed at improving safety, reliability and cost efficiency. Industry participants also explored new performance metrics that emphasize the overall value of electricity generation and storage rather than cost alone, reflecting a shift toward long-term sustainability planning.

BGMEA’s participation comes as Bangladesh’s garment industry faces increasing pressure from global buyers to cut emissions and adopt renewable energy across supply chains. The sector, which accounts for more than 80 percent of the country’s export earnings, has been steadily expanding rooftop solar installations and energy-efficient technologies to remain competitive in key markets.
Industry officials say exposure to global clean energy models and financing frameworks could support wider adoption of solar and energy storage systems in Bangladesh’s factories, helping manufacturers manage rising energy costs while meeting international sustainability standards.
The summit reinforced the role of cross-border collaboration between technology providers and manufacturing hubs in advancing decarbonization efforts, as emerging economies seek practical solutions to balance industrial growth with climate commitments.
