German specialty chemicals manufacturer CHT Group is strengthening its presence in Bangladesh through its local production facility in Narayanganj, aiming to improve delivery efficiency, customer support, and supply chain resilience in one of the world’s largest textile manufacturing hubs.
The company said its Bangladesh operation combines the group’s global chemical expertise with localized manufacturing and technical services to better serve textile mills and apparel manufacturers operating in the country. The move reflects growing international supplier interest in Bangladesh’s textile and garment industry, which remains a critical sourcing destination for global fashion brands.
CHT Bangladesh, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Germany-based CHT Group, was established in 2021 to manufacture and supply textile chemical auxiliaries tailored for the local market. The production facility, located in the Meghna Industrial Economic Zone in Sonargaon, Narayanganj, began operations in 2023.
Positioned strategically along the Dhaka–Chittagong highway corridor, the factory allows faster access to industrial zones across Bangladesh’s textile belt. According to the company, the location often enables same-day delivery to customer facilities, helping reduce lead times and improve supply reliability.
The company stated that local production has become increasingly important as textile manufacturers seek more transparent and resilient supply chains amid global logistical disruptions and rising compliance expectations from international buyers.
“With production at the heart of Bangladesh’s textile industry, the CHT Group ensures rapid product availability, short response times, and reliable service,” the company said in its press release issued on May 7.
Bangladesh is one of the world’s leading apparel exporters, and demand for sustainable textile processing chemicals has been increasing as factories invest in environmental compliance, energy efficiency, and sustainable manufacturing practices. CHT said its Bangladesh facility is designed to support these evolving industry requirements while maintaining European production and quality standards locally.

The company emphasized close collaboration with textile manufacturers and fashion brands operating in Bangladesh, noting that direct technical engagement allows faster identification of production challenges and the development of customized chemical solutions. On-site technical teams provide ongoing support to customers and maintain long-term partnerships through direct communication and local service availability.
CHT also highlighted its partnership with RH Corporation in Bangladesh, saying the collaboration supports knowledge transfer, application development, and technical expertise across multiple textile processing segments.
The Bangladesh facility incorporates several sustainability-focused technologies as part of the group’s broader environmental strategy. According to the company, the plant uses wastewater treatment and zero-liquid-discharge systems to reuse water in production processes. Solar energy systems have also been installed to meet a significant share of the factory’s daily energy requirements.
In addition, rainwater harvesting and treatment systems are being used to supply process water, while the factory’s architectural design maximizes natural lighting to reduce electricity consumption.
The company said these initiatives help lower transport-related emissions through localized production while supporting customers in meeting ESG and regulatory compliance requirements increasingly demanded by international apparel brands and retailers.
CHT noted that customers benefit from locally available chemical supplies manufactured under European quality and safety principles. Regional production also helps reduce exposure to international supply chain disruptions while enabling technical assistance from both local and global teams.
“All products meet the applicable requirements and standards in the textile industry,” the company said.
Headquartered in Tübingen, the CHT Group is a foundation-owned global specialty chemicals producer with around 2,500 employees and 26 production sites worldwide. The group reported a turnover of 572 million euros in the 2025 financial year.
Its business portfolio spans textile solutions, industrial solutions, and functional chemicals. The textile division supplies dyes and auxiliaries used across the textile value chain, while other segments cover specialty silicones, paper and pulp technologies, care ingredients, coatings, adhesives, construction chemicals, agrochemicals, mining applications, and release agents.
The company said it remains committed to sustainability and social responsibility and operates under internationally recognized certifications and standards. CHT is also approaching a milestone year, with the group set to celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2028.
The expansion of localized chemical production in Bangladesh comes at a time when textile manufacturers are increasingly prioritizing shorter supply chains, faster technical service, and sustainable sourcing solutions. Industry observers say such investments could further strengthen Bangladesh’s position as a globally competitive and environmentally responsible textile manufacturing destination.
