Accelerating Circularity Appoints Eileen Mockus as New CEO

Accelerating Circularity, a non-profit organization dedicated to building circular systems that transform used textiles into new raw materials, has announced the appointment of Eileen Mockus as its new CEO.

Mockus, an industry veteran with over 20 years of experience in sustainable innovation at brands like Patagonia, The North Face, and Coyuchi, will lead the organization as it moves from pilot programs toward commercial-scale implementation of textile-to-textile (T2T) recycling systems.

Founder and current CEO Karla Magruder, who has led the organization since 2019, will transition to board chair. Under her leadership, Accelerating Circularity gained global recognition, brought T2T products to market, and secured a Clinton Global Initiative Commitment to Action.

Magruder expressed confidence in the transition, saying the organization is “perfectly positioned to move from pilot programs to industry-wide implementation.”

Eileen Mockus emphasized the importance of this new phase, highlighting strong partnerships and growing demand for scalable recycling solutions. “Together, we can ensure the transition to a future where textiles are no longer wasted,” she said.

This leadership change signals a critical shift for Accelerating Circularity as it expands its tools, resources, and education efforts to support a sustainable circular economy in the fashion industry.
