The Dhaka University Alumni Apparel Foundation (DUAAF) is set to hold the oath-taking ceremony of its newly elected executive committee for the 2025–2027 term on January 16, in an event expected to draw senior leaders from Bangladesh’s garments and textile industry alongside university alumni and institutional representatives.
The ceremony will take place at the Dhaka University Alumni Association Floor on the university campus, with proceedings scheduled to begin at 3:30 pm. Organisers said the event will formally mark the transition to the new leadership while reinforcing the foundation’s role as an industry-facing alumni platform.

Founded in 2019, DUAAF brings together University of Dhaka alumni working across apparel manufacturing, sourcing, textiles and related sectors. The foundation has increasingly positioned itself as a networking and knowledge-sharing forum aimed at nurturing future industry leadership and strengthening ties between academia and the country’s largest export industry.
The upcoming programme will feature the formal oath-taking of the executive committee, guest remarks from industry figures and networking sessions among alumni and sector stakeholders. Industry observers note that alumni-led initiatives such as DUAAF have gained prominence as the apparel sector navigates rising compliance requirements, sustainability expectations and global market volatility.
DUAAF officials said the ceremony will also serve as an opportunity to outline priorities for the new term, with a focus on engagement, collaboration and visibility within the broader apparel ecosystem.
Bangladesh’s ready-made garment sector, which accounts for the bulk of the country’s export earnings, continues to rely on experienced leadership and coordinated industry platforms as it adapts to a more competitive and evolving global sourcing environment.
Bangladesh’s ready-made garment shipments earned around $38.48 billion in 2024 according to the latest World Trade Organisation and industry data, maintaining its position as the second-largest exporter globally after China.
