Bangladesh’s RMG Exports to EU Surge 24% in First Four Months of 2025

Bangladesh’s readymade garment (RMG) exports to the European Union reached $8.07 billion during January–April 2025, marking a sharp 23.98% year-on-year growth from $6.51 billion during the same period in 2024. The growth was driven by a 19.71% increase in export volume and a 3.57% rise in unit price, reflecting balanced progress in both quantity and value.

According to Eurostat, China remained the EU’s top apparel supplier with $8.39 billion in exports over the same period—up from $6.90 billion last year—posting 21.49% growth in value and a 7.37% jump in unit price.

While Vietnam’s exports to the EU rose by 15.62% with a 5.68% unit price increase, Turkiye experienced a decline of 5.41%. Among South Asian competitors, India exported $2.01 billion (up 20.58%), Pakistan $1.42 billion (up 23.42%), and Cambodia $1.56 billion (up 31.78%).

Bangladesh’s consistent rise underscores its strengthening position in the EU apparel market, outpacing regional competitors and holding close behind China in export value.
