In a ceremony held recently in Gulshan, the national human-rights organisation Bureau of Social Watch appointed noted young entrepreneur and media personality Salauddin Chowdhury as its new National Adviser. His wife, prominent female entrepreneur and social worker Maksuda Chowdhury Misha, was named as Human Resource Development Adviser.

The appointments were conferred by the organisation’s President, distinguished international human-rights activist Nurul Islam Chawhar. Also present at the event were Vice-President Faizun Nahar Ahmed, and key central committee members including Anwar Hossain and Abul Hasnat, while the ceremony was conducted by Secretary Misbah Uddin Rumi.

According to the newly appointed advisers, the couple — known for their business success and social-service efforts — will leverage their local and international exposure to promote socio-economic development.

They pledged to work for both national and international human-development, including efforts to improve Bangladesh’s global standing and attract investment through human-rights–grounded development initiatives.

Speakers at the event outlined the organisation’s future agenda: monitoring elections, promoting labour-owner relations, supporting poverty alleviation, and collaborating with national and international agencies for broader socio-economic development.
