CHT Group said it has secured validation of its climate targets under the Science Based Targets initiative, joining a global milestone as the SBTi reached 10,000 companies with approved science-based emissions reduction goals.

The German-based specialty chemicals and textiles solutions provider said the validation confirms that its greenhouse gas reduction targets are aligned with climate science and the goals of the Paris Agreement, including limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. The announcement comes as corporate participation in SBTi accelerates amid growing regulatory and investor scrutiny of climate commitments.

CHT Group said that while validation is an important step, implementation remains the core focus of its sustainability strategy. The company is expanding on-site solar power generation, increasing the share of renewable electricity across operations and replacing fossil fuel-based heat systems with biomass energy where feasible.

The group is also working to reduce upstream emissions by increasing the use of bio-based and renewable raw materials, particularly in products serving the textile, chemicals and industrial applications markets. These measures are aimed at cutting emissions across its value chain, including Scope 1, Scope 2 and selected Scope 3 categories.

The Science Based Targets initiative is a global body that helps companies set emissions reduction targets in line with the latest climate science. Reaching 10,000 validated companies underscores the growing adoption of science-based targets as a benchmark for credible corporate climate action.

CHT Group said its participation reflects broader momentum within the chemicals and textile supply chains, where brands and manufacturers are increasingly under pressure to demonstrate measurable and transparent progress toward decarbonization.
