Kintra Fibers and Paradise Textiles have unveiled what they describe as a “garment of the future,” presenting a prototype apparel range made with bio-based materials aimed at reducing the fashion industry’s reliance on fossil-based synthetics.

The collaboration includes a set of windbreakers and running shorts produced using Kintra Fibers’ 100% bio-based fabrics, with the garments printed in algae-based black ink supplied by Living Ink Technologies. The companies said the project demonstrates how both fabric and coloration can be derived entirely from renewable sources without compromising performance.

Paradise Textiles, the innovation and material science arm of Sri Lanka-based Alpine Group, worked with Kintra on fabric development and garment construction. Kintra’s proprietary bio-synthetic yarn is designed to match the durability and functionality of conventional polyester while offering improved end-of-life characteristics, including biodegradability under specific conditions.

The companies said the material can be processed on standard polyester manufacturing equipment, a factor they believe could support broader adoption across existing textile supply chains. The project comes as apparel brands and manufacturers face growing pressure from regulators, consumers and investors to cut emissions and improve sustainability, positioning bio-based fibers as a potential pathway toward next-generation performance apparel.
