Italian chemical specialist Officina39 has revealed its Spring–Summer 2027 denim finishing collection centred on the creative concept “Shades of Sunset” and a portfolio of advanced, sustainability-driven finishing processes. The innovations were showcased at the Kingpins Amsterdam trade fair on October 15–16, underlining the company’s strategic emphasis on marrying aesthetic exploration with process efficiency and environmental responsibility.

The “Shades of Sunset” capsule draws its inspiration from the shifting hues of dusk — from soft, sun-washed gradients to deeper, turbulent skies — and translates these natural phenomena into expressive, wear-ready colour narratives. The collection also extends into a Y2K-influenced aesthetic featuring strong contrasts, a vintage “dirty colour” look and re-imagined washes.

On the technology front, Officina39 introduced updated finishes such as Marvel Metal Laser, part of its Marvel Coating range, which combines laser, pigment and chemical treatments to produce metallic surfaces and high-definition effects. Two new pigment-based innovations were also presented: Pigment Acid Fade, using Novapret Acid Fade technology to achieve vintage acid-wash looks in fewer steps; and Laser Color, which uses laser fixation of pigments for high-definition effects with a soft hand feel.

Sustainability remains a core driver of the portfolio: the ZeroPP|ALL.IN solution stands out as a cost-neutral substitute for potassium permanganate in denim finishing. Its three-step process (spray → laser marking → dry ozone) eliminates rinsing, is applicable to sulphur black and dyed garments, and is compatible with elastane fabrics, streamlining productivity while reducing environmental impact.

Further, Officina39’s Smart Bright, Smart Black and Aqualess All-In-One systems reinforce the company’s commitment to low-impact laundry and finishing solutions. Smart Bright, for example, focuses on preventing yellowing due to ozone exposure, enhancing brightness of indigo denim while reducing water and energy use.

In presenting these developments, Officina39 reaffirmed its identity as a partner of both creativity and sustainable technical progress. With more than 30 years of experience in textile chemical development, the company underscores its Italian-heritage laboratory culture and its ambition to support global denim manufacturing—including regions such as Bangladesh—with state-of-the-art, eco-efficient solutions.

For the apparel and denim supply chain—especially for manufacturers and buying-houses seeking differentiation in finishing, colour and sustainability—the SS27 launch offers a fusion of vivid creative direction and pragmatic process innovation. As brands and mills increasingly demand effect richness alongside ecological credentials, Officina39’s SS27 platform sets a compelling benchmark for what next-generation finishing can deliver.
