Shanghai Fashion Week (FW26) is underway, running from March 25 to April 1, showcasing a significant shift in China’s fashion industry with both local talent and international appeal as the global fashion calendar progresses.
The event, officially themed “Design Ahead, Fashion Ascends,” has attracted an expanded lineup of Chinese and international designers, reflecting renewed industry momentum amid broader market recalibration.
Leading the program is designer Feng Chen Wang, celebrating her brand’s 10th anniversary, a milestone that underscores the evolution of homegrown talent into brands with global reach and commercial readiness. Domestic labels such as HPLY, 8ON8, Jacques Wei and Mark Gong are also presenting collections alongside emerging voices including Susan Fang.

Beyond the runway, the fashion week integrates commerce‑driven showrooms and trade showcases, including major platforms like Ontimeshow and Tube Showroom that host more than 300 designers, enabling direct buyer engagement and sourcing opportunities.
Cultural activations such as the Vogue China Fashion Fund, launching on March 28, and the New Wave Fashion Competition are positioning Shanghai not just as a display venue but as a business and talent development hub.
The global appetite for Shanghai’s fashion output is further evidenced by the presence of established international brands returning with creative salons and exhibitions, signaling that China remains a key influencer in global design and trade dynamics.
As designers and buyers converge, industry analysts say Shanghai Fashion Week is transforming from a regional cultural showcase to an essential commercial gateway between East Asian creativity and the broader global fashion marketplace.
