India-based specialty chemical manufacturer Aether Industries Ltd. has signed a strategic 10-year contract manufacturing agreement with Milliken Chemical and Textile (India) Co, the Indian subsidiary of Milliken & Company, a global innovation powerhouse headquartered in the United States.
Under the terms of the agreement, Aether Industries will serve as the exclusive contract manufacturer for a proprietary chemical product deemed critical to Milliken’s long-term supply chain strategy. The product and its specifications remain confidential due to commercial sensitivity, but it is understood to be a key part of Milliken’s textile and materials technology portfolio.
The manufacturing will take place at Aether’s newly developed Site 3+ facility in Surat, Gujarat, which will be fully dedicated to this single-client project, reflecting the strategic depth of the partnership. The facility is expected to operate under high compliance standards and be tailored to Milliken’s technical, quality, and safety requirements.
“This long-term agreement is a major milestone for Aether, further strengthening our position in the global specialty chemicals supply chain,” the company stated. “Our collaboration with a globally respected name like Milliken is a testament to our capabilities in innovation, compliance, and customer-centric execution.”
Milliken & Company, with operations in chemicals, textiles, floor coverings, and healthcare, is known for its commitment to sustainability, R&D, and advanced manufacturing. Its Indian operations have been growing steadily, aligning with the parent company’s focus on building regional supply hubs for resilience and speed-to-market.
Industry analysts see this partnership as a significant endorsement of India’s evolving role in global specialty manufacturing and a boost to Surat’s chemical processing hub, which is fast becoming a magnet for high-value foreign collaborations.
With Site 3+ tailored for this deal, Aether not only deepens its ties with a global brand but also reinforces its vision of building “plants of the future” — facilities optimized for long-term, client-specific partnerships.
