Cologne-based sustainable fashion brand Armedangels has joined the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) initiative as a signatory friend, reinforcing its commitment to eliminating harmful chemical use across its supply chain. The company said the partnership will help it align more closely with suppliers, track progress and gradually close compliance gaps.

Founded in 2007, Armedangels employs around 160 people and has built its reputation on sustainability-focused collections. The brand said it aims to ensure that by 2026 all mapped wet processing suppliers comply with the ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List or equivalent standards. It also plans to set science-based carbon reduction targets in line with the 1.5°C pathway by the end of this year and transition its Portugal-based direct production partners to renewable energy by 2030.
Armedangels reported that its overall carbon footprint rose 20% in 2024 compared with the previous year due to higher sales volumes, with denim contributing 10% of revenue and growing 15% during the year. In May 2025, the company opened its first own-brand store in Cologne, presenting it as a platform for community engagement around its sustainability values.
