Swiss shoe designer Nina Christen joins Dior as Director of Footwear

Paris, July 2025 — Renowned Swiss-Chilean shoe designer Nina Christen has joined Christian Dior as the luxury house’s new Director of Footwear. The move comes under the creative leadership of Jonathan Anderson, who was recently appointed as Dior’s Creative Director. While the brand has not yet issued an official press release, Christen confirmed the news herself via Instagram, expressing her excitement to support Anderson in this new chapter.

Nina Christen has become one of the most in-demand footwear designers in high fashion, having previously worked at Bottega Veneta, Loewe, The Row, and Saint Laurent . Her notable designs include the Balloon Pumps at Loewe, Puddle boots and Lido sandals at Bottega Veneta, and iconic Chelsea boots at Saint Laurent during Hedi Slimane’s era. In late 2024, she launched her namesake label, “Christen,” which was quickly recognized for its architectural minimalism and inventive silhouettes.

Industry observers view Christen’s appointment as a major step for Dior’s footwear ambitions. Her track record of combining sculptural artistry with commercial appeal aligns well with the bold vision Anderson is expected to bring to the house. Her first designs for Dior are anticipated to debut as part of the Spring/Summer 2026 collection, which may premiere at Paris Fashion Week.

With Christen’s signature blend of avant-garde sensibility and luxury craftsmanship, Dior’s footwear line is poised for a fresh, modern transformation. Fashion insiders are already watching closely to see how this collaboration will reshape the future of Dior shoes.
