Continuous Composites (CCI) has secured a multi‑million‑dollar, multi‑year award from the U.S. Air Force to accelerate the development and validation of its CF3D® (Continuous Fiber 3D) technology, according to a PR Newswire release.
Under the first phase of the contract, CCI will complete foundational work—establishing baseline material properties and executing performance validation campaigns to benchmark CF3D-manufactured parts against traditional composites like Carbon‑Carbon . The second phase will expand these efforts with full‑scale production and flight testing, refining manufacturing processes and validating performance for high‑temperature aerospace applications.
CF3D technology enables automated production of complex continuous fiber composites in near‑net shapes, providing precise fiber orientation and geometry control. This method supports scalable manufacturing of lightweight, high‑performance aerospace, defense, and UAV components.
CCI has patented CF3D, laying the foundation for lightweight structural parts with unparalleled precision and scalability. Their technology is already being deployed in aerospace applications, including structural spars and wing components for flight test programs.
