Webinar highlights global study, career prospects for Bangladeshi textile graduates

An international webinar on higher studies and global career development for textile graduates drew up to 200 participants on Friday, as Online Textile School (OTS) and Bunon jointly hosted a 2.5-hour session featuring Bangladeshi professionals working in the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan.

Speakers outlined their experiences pursuing postgraduate education abroad and building careers in global markets, offering guidance on scholarship preparation, university selection, research planning, language skills and adapting to new academic and cultural environments.

Their insights were aimed at helping Bangladeshi graduates navigate international opportunities with greater confidence.

Md. Salauddin, Head of operation at Bunon and Advisory Board Member of Fashion Business Journal, joined as a special guest speaker. He said Bangladesh’s textile sector is now competing in a global marketplace where advanced research capability, technical skills and international exposure have become critical.

He noted that Bangladeshi students once pursued overseas education mainly in law and traditional fields, but global demand has broadened to include sustainability, advanced manufacturing, fashion innovation, supply chain management and technical textiles.

Salauddin added that overseas study requires resilience, sacrifice and long-term planning, saying success abroad is built on “dedication and unseen struggle.” He recognized the contribution of Bangladeshi professionals living overseas who are supporting new graduates through OTS and Bunon.

Organizers said the collaboration aims to build a structured platform offering continuous guidance on higher education, skills development and international career planning. Participants engaged actively, seeking advice on scholarships, research areas and career transitions.
