Bangladesh’s textile and apparel industry, the country’s largest export earner, has expanded its footprint in sustainable manufacturing over the past decade, with local green building consultancies such as 360’ Total Solution Limited (360 TSL) playing a supporting role as international buyers tighten environmental requirements.
The shift gathered pace in the early 2010s when factory owners began investing in energy-efficient and resource-conscious buildings to align with global sourcing standards. During this period, 360 TSL started its journey in 2011 as a Dhaka-based sustainability advisory firm, initially focusing on energy audits and environmental assessments before responding to rising demand from the textile sector for green building expertise.
As Bangladesh’s garment and textile manufacturers increasingly pursued internationally recognised certifications, technical advisors became more closely involved in factory planning and construction. 360 TSL gradually expanded its services to include consultancy for projects seeking certification under the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design framework, with an emphasis on energy efficiency, water stewardship and sustainable site design.

Several factories developed during this phase achieved high-ranking LEED certifications, strengthening Bangladesh’s reputation for green manufacturing. SM Sourcing’s apparel facility in Gazipur secured a LEED Platinum rating with a score exceeding 100 points, placing it among the highest-scoring green factories globally, according to industry data. Tasniah Fabrics Ltd. of Masco Group recorded similar outcomes, with both its administrative and production buildings earning Platinum certifications with top international rankings, projects where 360 TSL was involved from a technical advisory perspective.
In the knitwear segment, DBL Group’s Jinnat Knitwears units achieved multiple LEED Platinum certifications, reflecting broader adoption of sustainable infrastructure across large-scale textile operations supported by firms such as 360 TSL. Birds Group’s BIRDS A & Z Ltd factory also attained LEED Gold status, highlighting measurable improvements in energy and water efficiency.
Industry analysts say these projects illustrate how sustainability investment has become increasingly tied to export competitiveness. Global apparel brands sourcing from Bangladesh now routinely evaluate environmental performance alongside cost, quality and capacity, reinforcing the need for structured sustainability planning, an area where 360 TSL and similar consultancies have developed local technical expertise.
Bangladesh currently hosts more than 200 LEED-certified factories, the highest number globally, according to industry data. Observers say the concentration of green facilities has helped reinforce the country’s position as a preferred sourcing destination as supply chains face greater environmental scrutiny.
As sustainability standards continue to tighten across key consumer markets, the textile industry’s focus on green buildings is expected to remain central to long-term growth, supported by domestic advisory firms such as 360 TSL that have evolved alongside the sector’s sustainability transition.
