Global sportswear brand PUMA has reinforced its sourcing engagement in Bangladesh following a recent visit by its senior leadership team to Urmi Group’s manufacturing facilities, where executives highlighted strong quality standards and growing automation capabilities.
The delegation, led by Valerie Autissier and accompanied by Moyeen Chowdhury, conducted a comprehensive review of Urmi Group’s Quality Management Systems across its textile, seamless, garments, printing and embroidery units, according to company officials.
During the visit, PUMA representatives expressed appreciation for the company’s operational discipline and product quality, underscoring Bangladesh’s continued evolution from a volume-driven sourcing base to a more value-added manufacturing hub.

A key focus of the visit was Urmi Group’s investment in automation, including process and system integration aimed at improving efficiency, consistency and scalability. The delegation showed particular interest in these capabilities, which are increasingly seen as critical for meeting global brands’ demands for speed, transparency and cost competitiveness.
Industry analysts say such visits reflect a broader trend of international apparel brands strengthening partnerships with strategic suppliers in Bangladesh, as they seek to diversify supply chains while maintaining high compliance and performance standards.
Urmi Group said the feedback from the PUMA team affirms its direction in adopting advanced manufacturing practices and credited its workforce for maintaining operational excellence during the review.
Bangladesh, the world’s second-largest apparel exporter, has been attracting renewed attention from global brands amid ongoing shifts in sourcing strategies, with manufacturers accelerating investments in technology, sustainability and quality systems to remain competitive.
