Bangladesh pitches leather, footwear strength to Korean buyers

Bangladesh moved to strengthen trade ties with South Korea’s sourcing community as the Leathergoods and Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB), together with the Embassy of Bangladesh in Seoul, hosted a sectoral seminar in the South Korean capital on Feb. 24.

The event, titled “Bangladesh: Your New High-Value Partner for Quality Leather Goods & Footwear,” was held at the The Shilla Seoul and brought together Bangladeshi exporters, Korean buyers and potential investors to explore sourcing and partnership opportunities.

LFMEAB used the forum to highlight Bangladesh’s growing competitiveness in leather goods and footwear manufacturing, pointing to its skilled workforce, cost-effective production base and increasing alignment with global compliance and sustainability standards. The association said the initiative is part of a broader push to position Bangladesh as a reliable, scalable supply-chain partner for international brands.

Participants discussed opportunities to deepen bilateral trade and investment flows, particularly in value-added product segments. Organizers said the seminar also aimed to build confidence among Korean stakeholders about Bangladesh’s manufacturing capabilities and long-term export potential.

LFMEAB expressed appreciation to attending business leaders and reiterated its commitment to expanding Bangladesh–South Korea industry collaboration in the leather and footwear sectors.
