German biotechnology firm AMSilk, known for producing advanced materials from spider silk proteins, has launched a new line of denim fabrics in collaboration with Italian textile mill Pure Denim. The partnership introduces high-performance fabrics combining traditional cotton with lab-grown spider silk, aimed at the luxury denim market.

The first fabric is an 11.2-ounce denim made of 67 percent cotton and 33 percent spider silk, offering improved softness, elasticity, and durability. The second, heavier 12-ounce option contains 59 percent cotton and 41 percent spider silk, designed for premium garments that require strength and resilience without sacrificing comfort.
