Bangladesh and India should deepen cooperation in textiles and apparel by improving logistics, customs procedures and cross-border trade to build a more integrated regional supply chain, industry leaders said at a seminar in Dhaka on Thursday.
The seminar, titled “Advancing Bangladesh-India Textile Value Chains through Seamless Logistics and Trade Facilitation”, was organised by the India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI), in association with Conference & Exhibition Management Services (CEMS-Global), at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre in Purbachal.

Mustazirul Shovon Islam, managing director of Sparrow Group, said Bangladesh must increase production of value-added and higher-value apparel to maintain its global competitiveness.
“High-quality textiles are required, and India is one of the most accessible and important sources for these raw materials,” Islam said.
He urged businesses in both countries to move beyond assessing individual gains and losses from bilateral trade and instead pursue greater integration.
“Our guiding principle should be — one supply chain, two countries and one global ambition,” he said.

Stronger cooperation could help Bangladesh and India develop an integrated regional textile and apparel supply chain, enabling both countries to improve their competitiveness in global markets, Islam added.

Other speakers called for more efficient logistics systems, streamlined customs procedures and easier cross-border movement of goods. They said reducing trade and logistics barriers could improve supply-chain efficiency and strengthen the position of both countries in international textile markets.
The seminar was held alongside CEMS-Global’s 25th Bangladesh edition of its Textile Series of Exhibitions. The Textech Bangladesh 2026 International Expo, Dhaka International Yarn & Fabric Show 2026-Summer Edition and Dye+Chem Bangladesh 2026 International Expo are being held from Sept. 2 to 5.
Organisers said about 1,475 companies from 37 countries are participating across more than 2,245 booths and pavilions, with business visitors expected to exceed 16,000.
The exhibitions also feature a Digital Transformation Zone covering ERP, automation, cloud systems, artificial intelligence, IoT and digital machinery.
