thyssenkrupp nucera has secured a new contract from Chemical Marketing and Distribution Company (CMDC), part of Basic Chemical Industries Company (BCI), to expand its chlor-alkali plant in Jubail Industrial City, Saudi Arabia. The project will utilize thyssenkrupp nucera’s advanced BM2.7 membrane technology, known for its high energy efficiency and reduced environmental impact.
Valued at approximately EUR 15 million (around $17.65 million), the contract includes supply, equipment delivery, spare parts, and engineering services. BCI, one of the largest chemical companies in the Kingdom and listed on the Saudi Stock Exchange since 2008, will use the technology to enhance production of caustic soda, sodium hypochlorite, hydrochloric acid, and liquid chlorine—supporting both domestic needs and exports.
This marks another chapter in the decade-long partnership between BCI and thyssenkrupp nucera, following previous collaborations in 2013 and 2017.
