Cone Denim said its Parras manufacturing facility in Mexico has surpassed one million safe working hours without a recordable injury, underscoring the denim producer’s push to strengthen workplace safety across its global operations.

The milestone was recently celebrated at the company’s integrated plant in Parras, Coahuila, where senior leadership joined employees to recognize the achievement. President Steve Maggard visited the site to commend the workforce and reinforce the company’s safety-first culture.

The Parras facility, one of Cone Denim’s key production hubs, operates as a vertically integrated mill processing cotton into finished denim fabric for international apparel brands. The company said the injury-free run reflects sustained investment in training, process controls and employee engagement.

Manufacturers often track safe working hours as a core operational metric, with the figure representing the cumulative time employees work without a reportable incident. Industry specialists note that reaching the one-million-hour threshold typically signals strong safety management systems and disciplined shop-floor practices, particularly at large textile mills running continuous shifts.

Cone Denim, founded in 1891 and now part of Elevate Textiles, has in recent years sought to position safety alongside sustainability and traceability within its broader ESG strategy. The company has invested in modern equipment, water recycling technology and process automation at Parras, upgrades that can also reduce manual risk exposure in denim production.

The announcement comes as global apparel brands intensify scrutiny of supply-chain working conditions, pushing fabric mills to demonstrate measurable improvements in worker welfare and operational risk management. Mexico remains a strategic sourcing base for North American denim programs, making performance indicators at facilities such as Parras closely watched by buyers.

Cone Denim did not disclose the timeframe required to reach the one-million-hour mark but said the achievement reflects “team commitment and consistent safety practices.” The company indicated it will continue strengthening workplace standards across its manufacturing network.
