Bangladesh’s Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) has signed a land lease agreement with Rosin Exports Limited to establish a denim manufacturing plant in the Jamalpur Economic Zone, marking another step in the country’s efforts to expand its export-oriented textile sector.

Under the agreement, Rosin Exports will develop a modern denim production facility on about five acres of land in the government-run economic zone, with an estimated investment of roughly $10 million, according to state news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha. The project is expected to create around 800 new jobs once operations begin.

The lease document was signed by BEZA Executive Member (Investment Development) Saleh Ahmad and Rosin Exports Managing Director S.M. Shahinuzzaman at a ceremony attended by officials from both sides. The new plant is expected to strengthen Bangladesh’s position as a major global supplier of garments while supporting the country’s growing denim segment.

Founded in 2005, Rosin Exports currently produces knitwear for international markets and operates a large manufacturing facility employing about 10,000 workers. The investment in denim manufacturing represents a strategic expansion aimed at diversifying its product range and tapping into rising global demand for denim apparel.

Officials from BEZA said investments in the Jamalpur Economic Zone are designed to accelerate industrialization in the northern region of Bangladesh, while boosting exports and employment. The zone, the first government economic zone in the Mymensingh division, spans roughly 436 acres and is being developed to host industries including textiles, agro-processing and light engineering.

The economic zone is expected to generate up to 32,000 direct jobs once fully operational. So far, around 20 industrial enterprises have signed lease agreements there, with several factories already under construction and others preparing to begin production.
