India’s Ministry of Textiles has launched the official Bharat Tex 2026 mobile application, aiming to accelerate digital business networking and strengthen the country’s position as a global textile sourcing hub ahead of one of the world’s largest integrated textile fairs.
The application, unveiled by Textile Secretary Neelam Shami Rao, is designed to serve as a unified digital platform for buyers, exhibitors, exporters, sourcing consultants and trade visitors participating in Bharat Tex 2026, which will take place from July 14-17 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
The move reflects India’s broader strategy to modernize textile trade promotion through digital integration as competition intensifies among Asian manufacturing economies seeking to attract global apparel and textile sourcing orders.
According to the Ministry of Textiles, the Bharat Tex 2026 app will enable users to schedule B2B meetings, explore exhibitor profiles, access conference schedules, navigate exhibition halls and receive real-time event updates. The platform also includes AI-powered assistance, digital badges and lead-capture tools intended to improve business matchmaking and visitor engagement during the exhibition.
Government officials said the digital platform aligns with Bharat Tex’s “digital-first” approach and is expected to help streamline communication between Indian manufacturers and overseas buyers looking for sourcing opportunities across the textile value chain.
India has been increasingly positioning itself as a reliable alternative sourcing destination amid shifting global supply chains, geopolitical uncertainties and growing sustainability requirements from Western markets. Policymakers believe the country’s large raw material base, expanding manufacturing infrastructure and skilled workforce can help accelerate export growth in textiles and apparel over the coming years.

Bharat Tex 2026 is expected to attract more than 7,000 international buyers from over 140 countries alongside around 3,500 exhibitors and over 130,000 trade visitors, according to event organizers.
The exhibition will showcase the entire textile ecosystem, including fibers, yarns, fabrics, garments, technical textiles, home textiles, handicrafts, handlooms and intelligent manufacturing technologies. Organizers say the event is intended to position India as a comprehensive global textile and apparel sourcing destination while strengthening investment and export partnerships.
Industry observers say digital networking tools are becoming increasingly important for large-scale trade fairs as buyers seek faster supplier discovery, more efficient meeting management and improved access to sourcing information before and during exhibitions.
The Bharat Tex app launch also comes as global apparel brands intensify focus on traceability, sustainability compliance and supply chain transparency. Indian exporters are under growing pressure to meet evolving environmental and social governance standards, particularly from buyers in Europe and North America.
Bharat Tex 2026 is expected to place significant emphasis on sustainable and circular textiles, technical textiles and innovation-led manufacturing. The event will feature discussions on resilient supply chains, ESG standards, smart manufacturing technologies and future trade opportunities shaping the global textile sector.
India’s textile and apparel industry remains one of the country’s largest employment-generating sectors, supporting millions of workers across manufacturing hubs and rural economies. The sector also plays a major role in export earnings, with the government continuing to push initiatives aimed at increasing value-added manufacturing and improving competitiveness in global markets.
Industry associations have welcomed the app initiative, saying digital engagement platforms can reduce logistical barriers for overseas buyers and improve exhibitor visibility at international trade events. The ability to pre-schedule meetings and receive personalized recommendations is expected to help companies maximize business opportunities during the four-day exhibition.
The event is being organized by the Bharat Tex Trade Federation, an umbrella body representing 11 textile-related export promotion councils and industry organizations.
Officials say Bharat Tex 2026 will also provide a platform for Indian MSMEs, startups, designers and technology providers to showcase innovations and connect with global buyers and investors. Alongside exhibitions, the event will host policy dialogues, knowledge sessions and reverse buyer-seller meets aimed at strengthening international trade collaboration.
India has been aggressively promoting textile manufacturing through initiatives linked to technical textiles, man-made fibers, sustainability and production-linked incentives. Analysts say digital tools such as the Bharat Tex app could further enhance India’s competitiveness by improving accessibility and reducing friction in cross-border business engagement.
As global textile sourcing patterns continue to evolve, the integration of AI-powered networking and digital trade management systems into major exhibitions is increasingly being viewed as essential for improving efficiency, transparency and business conversion rates.
For India, the success of Bharat Tex 2026 will be closely watched as the country seeks to strengthen its reputation not only as a manufacturing powerhouse, but also as a technology-enabled and sustainability-focused textile sourcing destination for the global market.
