Austrian specialty fiber producer Lenzing AG has appointed Georg Kasperkovitz as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective June 1, 2026. The appointment was approved by the company’s Supervisory Board, with Kasperkovitz set to lead the group until May 31, 2029.
Kasperkovitz joined Lenzing’s Management Board as Chief Operations Officer (COO) in June 2025 and has since overseen the company’s Fiber Division, including sales, production, supply chain operations, and the implementation of its company-wide performance improvement program. He will continue to hold COO responsibilities alongside his new role as CEO.
The leadership change comes after former CEO Rohit Aggarwal stepped down in January 2026 for personal reasons. Since then, Lenzing has been managed by its remaining board members while the company continued its restructuring and premiumization strategy.
Kasperkovitz brings extensive international management experience spanning Europe, North America, and Asia. Prior to joining Lenzing, he served as Business Unit CEO at Mondi plc, CEO of Rail Cargo Austria AG, and Partner at McKinsey & Company. He holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering from TU Vienna and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
The appointment reflects Lenzing’s focus on operational excellence, profitability improvement, and strengthening its position in the global market for sustainable regenerated cellulose fibers. The company has been pursuing a broad performance program aimed at improving efficiency and competitiveness amid ongoing market challenges, including high energy costs and intense international competition.
Lenzing confirmed that the Management Board structure will remain unchanged, consisting of Georg Kasperkovitz as CEO, Mathias Breuer as CFO, and Christian Skilich as CPO/CTO.
