Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBA) has officially announced the formation of 66 Standing Committees for the 2026–2028 term, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening institutional capacity and supporting the sustainable development of Bangladesh’s garment buying house sector.
The announcement was made during the Standing Committee Introductory Meeting held on 5 July 2026 at the UCB Lounge, Uttara Club, Dhaka. The meeting was presided over by Md. Abdul Hamid, President of BGBA, and attended by Mohammad Pabel, Former President & Chief Advisor of BGBA, along with members of the Executive Committee and the newly appointed Standing Committee members.
According to BGBA, the formation of the 66 Standing Committees marks a significant milestone in the Association’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its institutional capacity and proactively address the evolving challenges and opportunities facing Bangladesh’s garment buying house industry.
The committees have been constituted following a careful assessment of the Association’s current priorities and the needs of its members. BGBA said each committee consists of experienced and dedicated members selected for their expertise, enabling them to provide informed guidance, innovative ideas, and practical solutions in their respective areas of responsibility.
The Standing Committees will oversee a broad range of strategic and operational areas, including policy advocacy, trade facilitation, compliance, arbitration, member services, capacity development, sustainability, international relations, digital transformation, investment promotion, and other initiatives that are essential to enhancing the competitiveness of Bangladesh’s garment buying house sector and the country’s ready-made garment (RMG) export industry.
Addressing the gathering, BGBA President Md. Abdul Hamid emphasized the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and active participation in achieving the Association’s objectives.
“The formation of these 66 Standing Committees reflects BGBA’s commitment to building a stronger, more dynamic, and member-driven Association. We are confident that every committee will work as a united team with dedication, professionalism, and a shared sense of responsibility. Through their collective efforts, they will make meaningful contributions to the greater good of the Association, its members, and Bangladesh’s RMG export sector,” he said.

Former President & Chief Advisor Mohammad Pabel encouraged the committee members to work with sincerity, integrity, and a spirit of unity, emphasizing that the success of BGBA depends on the active engagement and collective efforts of its members. He expressed confidence that the newly formed committees would play a pivotal role in strengthening the Association and advancing the interests of Bangladesh’s garment buying house industry.
BGBA reaffirmed its commitment to fostering stronger collaboration among its members, government agencies, international buyers, and development partners to ensure a transparent, sustainable, and globally competitive buying house sector. The Association said it looks forward to the valuable contributions of the Standing Committees in shaping policies, addressing industry challenges, and promoting the long-term growth of Bangladesh’s apparel export industry.
