Heimtextil expects about 2,900 exhibitors at its January 2027 edition in Frankfurt, holding steady with the previous year despite persistent uncertainty across global home and interior textile markets, organiser Messe Frankfurt said.

The fair runs from January 12 to 15 at Messe Frankfurt. Organisers said pressure on consumer spending, rising demands for durability and functionality, and disrupted supply chains are shaping purchasing decisions across the sector. The 2026 edition drew about 3,000 exhibitors from 66 countries and more than 48,000 visitors, according to organiser data.

In response, the show is putting greater weight on material performance, product quality and dependable international sourcing.

A new Functional Futures Lab in Hall 4.1, developed with Future Fabrics Expo, will showcase materials and design solutions for hotels, offices, healthcare facilities and other commercial interiors. It sits within the Interior.Architecture.Hospitality programme, supported by presentations and guided tours on practical applications.

Heimtextil is also launching Carpets & Rugs Excellence, a premium segment featuring international manufacturers chosen by an independent jury on quality, workmanship and production capability. A new Comfort & Connect area will group bed and bath textiles with home accessories, while the textile design section will feature more than 30 emerging designers.

The 2027/28 trends, created with Milan-based platform Alcova, carry the theme “Home-Maxxing – The Performance of Everyday Living”. They explore how technical performance can be made visible through design, how exposed seams and replaceable covers reveal construction, and how natural fibres and ageing surfaces add tactile appeal. Architect Patricia Urquiola will contribute work to the presentation at Trend Space in Hall 4.2.

Heimtextil will span the full supply chain, from fibres and yarns to finished fabrics, carpets, bedding and furnishings, and will be open to trade visitors from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., closing at 5 p.m. on Friday.
