Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBA) has sought greater government support to strengthen the country’s buying house sector and expand international business opportunities, the association said following a meeting with State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam.
BGBA President Md. Abdul Hamid and members of the association’s Board of Directors attended the meeting, where they discussed measures to improve market access, facilitate international business engagement and strengthen institutional cooperation.
The association called for greater support from Bangladesh’s diplomatic missions abroad to facilitate business communication and help buying houses engage with potential markets and international partners.
BGBA also proposed the development of business market intelligence reports to help companies identify market opportunities and make informed decisions on international expansion.
The association highlighted the need for closer coordination involving commercial counsellors at Bangladesh missions abroad, saying their active participation could help support institutional cooperation, market development and international business activities.
Visa recommendation support for business-related travel and international engagements was also discussed during the meeting, according to BGBA.
The meeting is part of the association’s efforts to strengthen cooperation with government stakeholders and create greater opportunities for Bangladesh’s buying house community in overseas markets.
BGBA said it aims to deepen collaboration with relevant government authorities to improve market access, facilitate international business engagement and contribute to the sustainable growth of Bangladesh’s apparel and sourcing ecosystem.
