Adidas unveiled its first American football shoe built specifically around speed, teaming up with NFL wide receiver Rome Odunze as the brand looks to strengthen its position in the highly competitive U.S. football market.
The new model, called the Adizero Horizon, is designed to reflect how modern football players accelerate, stop and change direction during live play rather than focusing solely on straight-line sprinting. Adidas said the shoe was developed using athlete data and on-field testing, with Odunze closely involved throughout the design process.
Speed-focused features include a redesigned stud configuration aimed at improving traction during sharp cuts and braking, as well as a lightweight cushioning system intended to support quick transitions without sacrificing stability. Adidas said the cleat also incorporates a dual-plate structure to help deliver responsiveness and energy return during explosive movements.
