Germany-based specialty chemicals manufacturer CHT Group has introduced its “shape2stay” textile finishing technology, aiming to deliver durable easy-care performance while advancing sustainability standards in the global apparel industry.

The innovation, highlighted on its official technical platform, is built on next-generation crosslinking chemistry designed to improve garment shape retention, reduce wrinkling, and enhance fabric durability across repeated wash cycles.

At the core of shape2stay is a system of advanced crosslinking agents under the REAKNITT product range, including REAKNITT ZF, a formaldehyde-free crosslinker, alongside other low-formaldehyde and non-formaldehyde alternatives. These chemicals form durable bonds within cellulose fibers such as cotton, effectively stabilizing the fabric structure and enabling garments to maintain their original shape over time.

Industry experts say such crosslinking processes are essential to producing “easy-care” or “non-iron” garments, a category that has seen rising demand among consumers seeking convenience and longer-lasting clothing.

Traditional wrinkle-resistant finishes have historically relied on formaldehyde-based resins, which often raised concerns over fabric comfort, durability, and environmental impact.
