Dutch textile traceability company AWARE™ has signed a cooperation agreement with the Shengze Town People’s Government to improve supply-chain transparency and help Chinese textile innovations reach international markets, with Bangladesh playing a key role in an initial cross-border demonstration.
Announced during the 15th Jiangsu (Shengze) Textile Expo on October 10, the partnership will establish a large-scale pilot using digital infrastructure to connect textile producers and provide international buyers with verifiable information about material origins, composition and production history.

The initiative will initially introduce a recycled polyester Digital Product Passport (DPP), enabling manufacturers to share traceability evidence while retaining control over their production data.
A key demonstration linked Chinese carbon-capture yarn producer Shenghong, fabric manufacturer Fuhua Weaving and Bangladesh-based garment producer Turag. Fabric made from the yarn was sold to Turag, which transformed it into a finished jacket carrying an AWARE™ Digital Product Passport for the European market.

The example demonstrates how production records can follow materials from yarn manufacturing and fabric processing to finished garments across national borders.
AWARE™ uses tokenisation technology to create digital records for verified materials, with each token representing one kilogram of material. The system connects production records and material transactions to support traceability and mass-balance verification throughout the supply chain.
The company said its approach allows manufacturers to decide which evidence they share with customers while reducing repetitive data requests and administrative workloads.
For Bangladesh, the initiative could offer garment exporters a way to demonstrate material provenance and sustainability-related information to international buyers, particularly in Europe, where supply-chain transparency is becoming increasingly important.
AWARE™ also collaborates with the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association and the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, alongside industry organisations in China and India.
The partnership highlights growing efforts to connect Asian textile manufacturing networks through digital traceability systems as brands and importers seek stronger evidence about the materials used in finished products.
