Bangladeshi knitwear exporters and Pakistan’s envoy in Dhaka have agreed to pursue closer textile links, with joint business-to-business meetings and a January trade fair on the agenda, an industry press release said.
Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) President Mohammad Hatem received Pakistan High Commissioner Imran Haider at the association’s Dhaka office on Sunday.
The two sides discussed organising activities under a memorandum of understanding between BKMEA and the Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association, alongside B2B meetings to create direct linkages between companies in both countries.

Hatem invited Pakistani companies to the Bangladesh International Textile, Knitting and Garment Industry Exhibition, scheduled for January 2027 in Dhaka, saying participation would deepen supply chain synergies and expand commercial ties.
Haider assured Hatem of all possible cooperation to enhance bilateral trade and commercial collaboration.
Trade publication Textile Focus reported the talks also covered sourcing yarn, fabrics, denim, dyes and chemicals from Pakistan, with emphasis on competitive pricing, quality and reliable lead times.
The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry said in September 2025 that Pakistan’s exports to Bangladesh, then about $800 million, could reach $3 billion within a couple of years, The Business Standard reported.
