The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) will showcase sustainability initiatives across Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) industry through a dedicated ‘Impact Zone’ at BATEXPO 2026, according to a press release issued on Tuesday.

The Impact Zone will highlight progress in environmental sustainability, social responsibility and governance across the RMG value chain, including decarbonization, renewable energy, recycling, circularity and resource efficiency.

It will also feature initiatives related to gender equity, worker health and nutrition, childcare and maternal care, alongside digital traceability solutions such as the Digital Product Passport (DPP).

The initiative will address evolving European Union (EU) regulations and global supply-chain requirements.

BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan said the Impact Zone would reflect the transformation taking place across the industry in response to climate action, resource efficiency and the circular economy.

“This is not merely a story of compliance; it is the story of a distinctive and responsible journey towards leadership in global markets,” he said.

BGMEA Vice President Vidiya Amrit Khan, who is leading the Impact Zone initiative, said Bangladesh’s apparel industry must be prepared not only to meet evolving global sustainability requirements but also to lead the transition towards responsible manufacturing.

The initiative aims to position Bangladesh as a trusted, forward-looking partner in the global shift towards sustainable apparel production.

BATEXPO 2026, organized by BGMEA with PDS as the title sponsor, will be held on November 18–19 at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in Dhaka.
