Novonesis, the Copenhagen-based biosolutions company, has launched DeniBrite™, a consolidated enzymatic bleaching platform aimed at helping denim formulators and laundries move away from traditional bleaching chemistries without sacrificing the finishes brands and consumers expect.
The platform brings together two existing solutions under one banner: DeniBrite™ Cold T, designed for bright, contemporary looks achieved through low-temperature bleaching, and DeniBrite™ Vintage, aimed at authentic vintage finishes and grey-cast effects. Novonesis said the combination gives customers more flexibility to meet varying brand and fashion preferences while cutting reliance on conventional bleaching methods.
The launch responds to mounting pressure on denim finishers to clean up chemical management practices. The company pointed to the Denim Laundry Industry Progress & Insights 2025 report’s Environmental Impact Measurement data showing that 27% of finishing processes are still classified as having high chemical impact, underscoring what Novonesis described as continued demand for lower-impact alternatives that also support worker safety.

Hans Ole Klingenberg, Vice President of Planetary Health Biosolutions at Novonesis, said the shift in the industry is not just about achieving a look but proving how it was made. He said brands, formulators and laundries increasingly need assurance that their bleaching systems can satisfy evolving chemical compliance and sustainability expectations, and that DeniBrite™ pairs established enzyme technology with verified sustainability documentation to help customers prepare for what comes next.
On the documentation front, Novonesis said DeniBrite™ products are bluepass certified, reflecting production processes that meet bluesign Criteria, as the company holds bluesign System Partner status. The portfolio is also available in formulations compliant with ZDHC Level 3.
Novonesis also cited a screening-level Life Cycle Assessment of DeniBrite™ Cold T, which found roughly 40% lower global warming potential and 28% lower water consumption compared with conventional sodium hypochlorite bleaching under the conditions assessed. The company cautioned that the results are specific to the modeled comparison and should not be read as representative of all formulations, processes or production settings.
DeniBrite™ is available globally through Novonesis and its channel partners.
