Karachi-based denim manufacturer Artistic Milliners has won the 2026 RoSPA Health and Safety Silver Award from the UK’s Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, becoming the first textile company in Pakistan to receive the recognition, the company said. Artistic Milliners Pvt Ltd appears on RoSPA’s official list of 2026 Silver Award winners, alongside more than 100 organizations from countries including the UAE, Singapore, Italy, Brazil and Indonesia.

The award was presented as part of RoSPA’s 70th anniversary Health and Safety Awards, one of the world’s most prestigious workplace safety schemes. The 2026 ceremony, sponsored by NEBOSH, was held on June 30 at the Grosvenor Hotel in London and drew roughly 2,000 entries from about 60 countries. RoSPA’s Silver Award recognizes organizations with a high level of safety performance underpinned by strong management systems and consistent improvement, positioning winners on a path toward the scheme’s top Gold tier.

Artistic Milliners said the recognition reflects an operational philosophy in which safety is treated as integral to production rather than a separate compliance function. The company said the achievement followed a sustained shift in how it approaches operations, including the integration of new technology on the factory floor and an emphasis on empowering its workforce to take ownership of safety practices.

Founded in 1949 and headquartered in Karachi, Artistic Milliners has grown from a small retail operation into one of the world’s largest vertically integrated denim fabric and apparel manufacturers, with roughly 16,000 employees and representative offices in seven cities globally. The company operates across spinning, weaving, dyeing, garment manufacturing, finishing and renewable energy, and has positioned itself as a leader in denim innovation, including work on cradle-to-cradle certified fabrics and closed-loop production systems.

The RoSPA recognition adds to a body of sustainability and innovation credentials the company has built in recent years, as global apparel brands increasingly scrutinize supplier safety and labor conditions as part of sourcing decisions. Workplace safety has become a growing point of emphasis for Pakistan’s textile sector, which remains one of the country’s largest export industries, as manufacturers seek to align with the compliance expectations of international retail partners. Other Pakistan-linked entrants on this year’s Silver list include Engro Fertilizers’ Dahark site and Paxar Pakistan, though Artistic Milliners is the only textile manufacturer from the country named among the 2026 winners.

RoSPA’s awards are assessed across a range of criteria, including current health and safety management systems and an entrant’s response to emerging risk areas. The organization, which marked its 70th year in 2026, said the anniversary offered an opportunity to reflect on decades of progress in workplace safety, from the program’s founding in 1956 to today’s focus on prevention culture and employee wellbeing.
RoSPA Chief Executive Becky Hickman said this year’s awards continued to honor organizations demonstrating long-term commitment to safety standards while welcoming new entrants working toward the same goal. Award winners span sectors including manufacturing, construction, engineering and healthcare, with entries assessed on management systems, risk control performance and levels of workplace harm and loss.

For Artistic Milliners, the Silver Award marks a new safety milestone in a broader push to modernize operations across its manufacturing base. The company’s statement framed the recognition as validation of a multi-year effort rather than a single initiative, describing safety as embedded in how production itself is carried out across its facilities. Artistic Milliners said it plans to build on the systems and workforce training behind this year’s award as it works toward higher recognition in future RoSPA cycles.
