Olympic Industries PLC has signed an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) agreement with Solaric Group to install a 1,041.76 kilowatt-peak (kWp) rooftop solar power plant, marking a step toward integrating renewable energy into Bangladesh’s industrial sector.
The project will be implemented on the company’s factory rooftop and is expected to generate clean electricity for industrial operations, reducing reliance on conventional energy sources and lowering carbon emissions.
Industry observers say the initiative reflects a broader shift among manufacturing companies in Bangladesh toward adopting renewable energy solutions as energy costs rise and environmental sustainability becomes an increasing priority.
Solaric Group, a leading rooftop solar engineering company in Bangladesh, has been involved in several large industrial solar projects across sectors such as textiles, garments, ceramics and plastics. The company has completed multiple rooftop installations in industrial zones including Dhaka, Gazipur and Savar as part of efforts to expand renewable energy use in manufacturing facilities.
The partnership with Olympic Industries is expected to strengthen renewable energy adoption in the country’s fast-moving consumer goods and manufacturing sectors.
Rooftop solar power plants allow factories to generate electricity directly from unused roof space by installing photovoltaic (PV) panels. The electricity generated can be consumed within the facility, helping reduce dependence on grid electricity or fossil-fuel-based energy sources.
Renewable energy experts say rooftop solar systems are increasingly attractive for industries because they provide long-term energy cost savings while supporting sustainability goals.
Solaric has previously developed a number of rooftop solar projects for industrial clients in Bangladesh, including major manufacturing groups in export-oriented sectors. The company has completed dozens of rooftop solar installations since 2015 and has played a key role in expanding industrial renewable energy adoption in the country.

Bangladesh’s manufacturing sector has faced persistent energy supply challenges in recent years, including shortages of natural gas and rising electricity demand from expanding industrial production. As a result, many factories are exploring alternative energy solutions to improve energy security and reduce operational costs.
Rooftop solar installations are increasingly seen as a practical solution because factories often have large rooftop areas that can be used for photovoltaic systems without requiring additional land.
The new solar power plant at Olympic Industries is expected to contribute to cleaner industrial operations by reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with traditional electricity generation.
Environmental analysts note that industrial solar installations can significantly lower a company’s carbon footprint while improving energy efficiency across production facilities.
In addition to environmental benefits, rooftop solar systems can help companies stabilize long-term electricity expenses by generating power on-site. This is particularly important for energy-intensive industries that rely on continuous electricity supply for manufacturing operations.
Solar energy adoption has been gradually increasing across Bangladesh’s industrial sector as companies pursue sustainability targets and respond to global supply chain expectations.
Many international buyers, particularly in apparel and manufacturing sectors, are encouraging suppliers to adopt renewable energy and reduce emissions as part of broader environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitments.
Bangladesh’s government has also promoted renewable energy development as part of its long-term energy strategy. The country aims to increase the share of renewable energy in its overall power generation mix while supporting cleaner industrial growth.
Industry experts say rooftop solar projects like the one planned by Olympic Industries demonstrate how private sector investments can accelerate the transition toward more sustainable industrial energy systems.
As more manufacturing companies adopt solar power solutions, renewable energy could play a growing role in supporting Bangladesh’s industrial competitiveness while helping reduce environmental impact.
