The Azerbaijan Textile Association (ATA) has officially joined the International Textile Manufacturers Federation (ITMF) as a member association, a move aimed at strengthening Azerbaijan’s integration into the global textile value chain.
The announcement was made in a joint press release issued by ATA and ITMF, highlighting the growing international engagement of Azerbaijan’s textile and apparel sector.
ATA was established to represent and promote the interests of Azerbaijan’s textile and apparel industry, playing a key role in sector development, policy dialogue, capacity building and international cooperation. By joining ITMF, the association said it aims to enhance sustainable growth, innovation and global competitiveness within the country’s textile ecosystem.
ITMF members account for approximately 90% of global textile and apparel production and represent the entire textile manufacturing value chain, providing a platform for information exchange, policy dialogue and industry networking.

Christian Schindler, Director General of ITMF, said welcoming ATA as a new member strengthens the federation’s global network and highlights the development potential of Azerbaijan’s textile sector. He noted that ATA’s participation in ITMF would contribute to deeper international collaboration, knowledge sharing and integration into global textile supply chains.
Through ITMF membership, ATA and its member companies will gain access to global industry statistics, surveys, reports and webinars, as well as conferences and networking events organized by the federation. These platforms are expected to help Azerbaijani textile firms expand international partnerships, improve export opportunities and adopt global best practices.
Farida Akhundova, Executive Director of ATA, described the membership as an important milestone for the country’s textile industry. She said joining ITMF represents a strategic step toward deeper integration into international markets and the adoption of global standards and innovation.
Industry observers say the move could help position Azerbaijan as a more competitive and reliable partner in the global textile market, while strengthening collaboration between the country’s manufacturers and international industry stakeholders.
