Technotextil 2026 opened on Tuesday at the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre, bringing together manufacturers, engineers and researchers as demand for advanced industrial materials accelerates across global markets.
The four-day exhibition, running from June 16 to 19, is one of the largest platforms for technical textiles and related industries in Russia and the CIS region. Organisers expect more than 18,000 visitors and over 350 exhibitors to participate, reflecting growing interest in high-performance materials that extend far beyond traditional apparel applications.

Now in its 22nd edition, Technotextil has evolved into a multi-sector industrial event, integrating three major components: Techtextile, Technocomposite and Technopolymer. This combined format highlights the convergence of textiles, polymers and composite materials, which are increasingly used together in advanced manufacturing and engineering.
The exhibition spans a wide range of sectors, including automotive, construction, healthcare and industrial filtration, underscoring how technical textiles are becoming essential components in modern infrastructure and production systems. Exhibitors are showcasing products that range from fibres and yarns to reinforced materials, coated fabrics, nonwovens and smart textile solutions.
Industry participants say the event reflects a broader shift in the global textile sector, where performance and functionality are driving innovation. Technical textiles, once considered a niche segment, are now a fast-growing category supported by demand for lightweight, durable and sustainable materials.
“Technotextil is no longer just about textiles in the traditional sense,” one exhibitor said. “It is about materials engineering and how textiles integrate into industrial applications.”

The inclusion of Technocomposite and Technopolymer alongside the core textile exhibition signals the increasing importance of hybrid materials. Composites combining textile reinforcements with polymer matrices are widely used in industries such as aerospace and automotive manufacturing, where reducing weight while maintaining strength is critical.
Machinery and production technologies are also a key focus. Companies are presenting automated solutions, advanced processing equipment and digital manufacturing systems designed to improve efficiency and scalability. The emphasis on automation reflects a wider industry push toward Industry 4.0, where data-driven processes and smart factories are becoming standard.
Sustainability is another central theme at this year’s event. Exhibitors are highlighting recycled fibres, bio-based polymers and energy-efficient production techniques, as companies respond to regulatory pressure and shifting consumer expectations. The integration of recycling technologies into industrial textile production is seen as a key step toward circular manufacturing models.
Beyond the exhibition floor, Technotextil 2026 features a business programme that includes conferences, presentations and startup showcases. These sessions are focused on market trends, technological developments and opportunities for collaboration across sectors.
The event also plays a strategic role in connecting international suppliers with the Russian and CIS markets. As global supply chains continue to adjust to geopolitical and economic changes, regional trade platforms such as Technotextil are gaining importance. They provide opportunities for companies to establish new partnerships and explore alternative sourcing and production networks.
While smaller in scale than global flagship events such as Techtextil Frankfurt, the Moscow-based exhibition offers a more targeted approach, with a strong emphasis on practical applications and industrial use cases. This positioning has made it a key meeting point for companies seeking to expand their presence in Eurasian markets.
Analysts note that the growth of technical textiles is closely tied to broader industrial trends, including the rise of advanced manufacturing, infrastructure development and sustainability initiatives. As industries seek materials that offer improved performance while reducing environmental impact, technical textiles are expected to play an increasingly important role.
Technotextil 2026 provides a snapshot of this transformation. By bringing together diverse sectors under one roof, the event illustrates how textiles are evolving from a consumer-focused industry into a critical component of modern engineering and production systems.
As the exhibition gets underway, it highlights the expanding role of materials innovation in shaping the future of industry, with technical textiles at the center of that shift.
