Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles, Asia’s leading home textile trade fair, opened its Autumn Edition on Tuesday at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, running through August 20, as global buyers converge on China’s home furnishings sector amid shifting sourcing patterns and rising sustainability demands.

Organized by Messe Frankfurt, the event describes itself as “the gateway to Asia’s home living,” offering a platform for sourcing curtains, upholstery, carpets, bedding and related soft furnishings alongside design showcases and industry forums. The 2025 edition drew nearly 900 exhibitors and more than 35,000 visitors, underscoring the fair’s scale within the region’s textile trade calendar.

Buyer testimonials published by the organizer point to demand extending far beyond China. A New Zealand-based buyer said she was seeking suppliers from China, India, Pakistan and Turkey for cushions, bed covers and curtains destined for European clients, adding that eco-certification and responsibly sourced materials had become essential requirements rather than preferences. A Turkish curtain manufacturer reported that roughly 40% of buyers at its booth came from outside mainland China, including Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam and several Latin American markets, reflecting the fair’s pull as a cross-regional sourcing hub.

The show’s programming is organized around four themes: Palette, focused on design inspiration; NextGen, centered on business-to-business connections; Connector, covering textile technologies; and Go-Green, addressing industry sustainability. A companion forum this year brought together textile researchers and industry figures, including a representative from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, to discuss social responsibility, sustainable practices and consumer research within the home textile supply chain — a signal that environmental and ethical sourcing credentials are increasingly shaping purchasing decisions across the sector.

Exhibitors from Iran, Finland and Italy also highlighted the event’s role in gauging pricing trends and design direction, with a Finnish design agency noting it was tracking demand for classic, whimsical and timeless pattern concepts among global home textile buyers.

The Autumn Edition runs alongside a separate Spring Edition of the same fair, together forming a twice-yearly benchmark for the home textile industry. Messe Frankfurt is also set to participate in the China International Import Expo later this year with a dedicated services-focused booth, extending its presence across China’s major trade fair circuit.

The fair continues through Thursday, with visitor registration open through the event’s close.
