Asia Pacific Rayon (APR), Indonesia’s largest integrated viscose rayon producer, has rolled out a 10-year sustainability roadmap as it looks to balance growth with mounting environmental and social pressures facing the global textile industry.

The plan, known as APR2030, sets 19 targets to be met by the end of the decade and is built around four broad priorities: tackling climate change and protecting nature, cleaning up manufacturing processes, boosting circular production, and strengthening surrounding communities.

APR said the vision reflects growing expectations from brands, regulators and consumers for more responsible fibre production, particularly in energy-intensive sectors such as man-made textiles. The company aims to cut the carbon intensity of its products, expand the use of recycled materials in viscose fibre, and support forest conservation and biodiversity efforts in Indonesia.

Circularity is a central theme of the strategy, with APR pledging to help develop textile waste recycling in the country and work with partners across the fashion supply chain to keep discarded fabrics out of landfills. On the social side, the company said it will focus on inclusive growth, gender equality and poverty reduction in communities near its operations.

The sustainability push builds on recent operational changes at APR’s manufacturing complex in Riau province, where the company says it has sharply reduced emissions intensity, water use and waste while aligning its facilities with international environmental standards.

APR, part of the Royal Golden Eagle (RGE) group, said APR2030 is intended to show that large-scale fibre production can coexist with climate action and community development, as the textile industry faces increasing scrutiny ahead of global 2030 sustainability deadlines.
