Swedish fashion retailer KappAhl Group is intensifying its commitment to sustainability, placing circularity at the heart of its operations as it ramps up the use of recycled materials and strengthens recycling initiatives. The move aligns with the company’s long-term goal of achieving a fully circular and environmentally responsible fashion model by 2030.

KappAhl, which operates across Northern Europe with hundreds of stores in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Poland, and the UK, has outlined an ambitious set of measures aimed at reducing environmental impact across its product lifecycle. Central to the strategy is a focus on circular fashion, designed to keep garments in use for longer and to reduce waste from discarded clothing.

“Circularity is no longer an optional aspect of fashion; it is a necessity,” said KappAhl Group CEO, in a recent corporate statement. “We are committed to designing products that last, using recycled materials wherever possible, and establishing systems that allow garments to be reused or recycled after their initial life.”

The company’s new initiatives include expanding take-back programs in stores and online, enabling customers to return old garments for recycling. These programs are complemented by the use of innovative textile recycling technologies, which convert pre- and post-consumer clothing waste into new fibers suitable for apparel production. KappAhl’s sustainability strategy also emphasizes durability, promoting longer-lasting garments to reduce consumption and the environmental footprint associated with fast fashion.

Recycled and sustainable materials now account for a growing share of KappAhl’s collections. According to the company, over 60% of cotton used in 2026 collections is recycled or sustainably sourced, and the company is investing in expanding the use of recycled polyester and wool. KappAhl is also actively collaborating with suppliers to ensure transparency and sustainability throughout its supply chain, from raw material sourcing to finished garments.
