Bobcat Company, a long-established name in construction equipment, has entered the safety footwear market through a licensing agreement with SCL Footwear, marking its first major move beyond machinery into wearable jobsite products.

The new line of work boots and shoes is being introduced through Walmart, with initial distribution focused on the retailer’s online platform. The collection targets industrial and construction workers, offering products designed for durability, protection and everyday use in demanding environments.

Prices for the footwear range between approximately $79.99 and $109.99, positioning the collection within the accessible segment of the workwear market. Early offerings include steel-toe and waterproof designs, reflecting standard safety requirements for jobsite footwear.

The move underscores Bobcat’s strategy to extend its brand identity beyond heavy machinery by leveraging its longstanding association with contractors and tradespeople. By entering the footwear segment, the company aims to build a broader ecosystem of products tailored to its core customer base.

Rather than manufacturing the products directly, Bobcat has opted for a licensing model, allowing SCL Footwear to manage design, production and distribution. This approach enables faster market entry while minimizing operational risks, a strategy increasingly adopted by non-apparel brands expanding into new categories.

The launch comes amid growing competition in the global workwear and safety footwear sector, where brands are focusing on combining protection with comfort-driven technologies. Companies such as Skechers have already established a strong presence in the work footwear category, intensifying competition for new entrants.

Bobcat’s expansion reflects a wider industry trend of industrial brands diversifying into lifestyle and protective gear, seeking new revenue streams while strengthening customer loyalty. The company is expected to explore further category extensions depending on the performance of its initial footwear rollout.
