Avery Dennison (NYSE: AVY), a U.S. materials science company, has opened a new flagship smart warehouse at the Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ) in Savar to support manufacturers serving global apparel and footwear brands, the company said.
The 830-square-meter facility has seven automated guided vehicles, connected packing software and a warehouse management system, and can store 25,000 cartons. Avery Dennison said the packing system enables 72% faster processing, and the site can handle five times its previous inbound volume, double outbound velocity and 50% higher inventory density.
The warehouse is part of the company’s Manufacturing 4.0 initiative in Bangladesh. Avery Dennison said it responded to rising demand for faster fulfilment, greater customization and more transparent supply chains, after fragmented workflows and delayed inventory data caused picking delays.
